Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, aka Ari Lennox, was born in Washington, D.C. on March 26th on the 26th of March, 1991. She is an American singer-songwriter and the first artist to be signed by J. Cole to his record label Dreamville Records. In October 2016, Ari Lennox released her EP Pho. The EP was where she gained recognition. Shea Butter Baby released her debut studio album on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox uploaded her music to the internet in 2012 after she released her five Finger Discount mixtape and Ariography EP in 2013. In 2014, she continued to release her music on the internet including her independently launched single Bound. In 2015, she appeared on Omen's Elephant Eyes Album on Sweat it out on 21st July. J. Cole was interested in her talents and was keen to work with Rihanna. The announcement that she would sign with Dreamville Records was made on the 8th of December. The album Revenge of the Dreamers II which she was featured on, she sang the song Backseat along with Cozz. The singer released Pho, her debut EP, on the 21st of October the 21st of October, 2016. Ari Lennox performed the song Change by J. Cole as well as being an opener on The 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017 in which she was accompanied by EarthGang. She also appeared on the tracks Nothing but the Best by EarthGang and Icarus along with Bas the label's co-founders. Ari Lennox debuted her first single, Shea Butter Baby, Whipped Cream on the 16th of July in 2018. A music video was then released in September. Then on the 9th of November 2018, she released another two singles titled 40 Shades of Choke (and Grampa). Two singles more were released by her on November 13, titled Pedigree and No One. They then teamed up as a guest on the Creed II soundtrack with Cole on a track titled Shea Butter Baby on November 16, and it was released as a single on February 26, 2019, for her debut album the same title. It was released with a music video in February 20th, 2019, and it surpassed the milestone of 3 million views via YouTube within one week. The singer was a supporting artist for 6LACK in the From East Atlanta With Love Tour in December 2018.
